OUR ALLERGEN POLICY

The safety of your school’s community is of the upmost importance. Cater To You trains all management and staff team members annually utilizing AllerTrain™ Allergy and Gluten-Free Food Service Training approved by the American Culinary Federation, and ServSafe® Allergens certification course from the National Restaurant Association. New employees go through an allergen awareness training program during onboarding.

Additionally, Chefs, Sous Chefs, and Junior Chefs undergo a separate training through AllerTrain™ that is a five-year certification. The courses teach food-handling procedures to ensure safe delivery of meals to diners with food allergies, intolerances, or sensitivities, including gluten intolerance and celiac disease.

Cater To You does not prepare or serve meals which it knows or has reason to believe contain peanuts and/or tree-nuts and. Notwithstanding the efforts of Cater To You to maintain an environment free of peanuts, tree nuts, it may inadvertently use food items from outside vendors which, despite its requirements, have been produced in a facility which also processes those allergens. There is also a possibility that manufacturers of the commercial foods we use could change the formulation at any time, without notice.

We accommodate separate meals that meet students’ special dietary requirements or that are allergy-friendly with our kitchen limitations in mind. Parents and staff that require special meal plan accommodations (for allergies or other dietary restrictions) should first communicate, in writing, with Friends Seminary’s Director of Health Services about their needs. They will work with Cater To You on the requirements and set up a time to meet, if necessary.
